A Sutton man arrested on felony DUI charges in Palmer Saturday also had a driver’s license that had been revoked until the year 2094, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m. Saturday, an AST dispatch says Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol received several Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately complaints about a vehicle headed south on the Glenn near Palmer. Investigating troopers made contact with John Michael Slowikowski, 41, in Palmer.

“Investigation at the scene revealed that Slowikowski was driving while under the influence of an intoxicating beverage and driving while license revoked,” troopers wrote. “After being arrested Slowikowski refused to provide a breath sample as required.”

Slowikowski faces felony charges of DUI and refusing a breath test, as well as a misdemeanor charge of driving with a revoked license. His vehicle was impounded and he was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility on $20,000 bail.

AST spokesperson Megan Peters confirmed the duration of Slowikowski’s license revocation Sunday, noting that not all drivers with revoked or suspended licenses actually heed the restrictions placed upon them.

“Someone gets their license revoked, and there’s nothing physically stopping them from getting into the car,” Peters said. “People just don’t care -- some do, but others are going to drive anyway.”

Court records show two prior felony DUI convictions for Slowikowski, in 2006 and 2008. If he stays out of trouble until his license is valid, he’ll be eligible to legally drive again -- when he’s 122 years old.
