Alaska State Troopers are investigating an assault in Wasilla that ended with a man being shot and wounded Tuesday evening, in a case suspected to be drug-related.

According to a Wednesday AST dispatch troopers were informed of the incident, at the Alcantra Recreational Facility on Seldon Road, shortly after 8:30 p.m.

“Investigation revealed that an 18-year-old male was assaulted by four unidentified males before being shot in the leg,” troopers wrote. “The four unidentified males left the area in a small silver car.”

While troopers say the wounded man was taken to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center and is in stable condition, AST spokesperson Megan Peters says he isn’t helping investigators.

“We’re struggling to get a lot of information on the incident, due to the victim not cooperating,” Peters said.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Investigator Adams through Mat-Su Crimestoppers at 745-3333.
