What is the best mascot in Alaska? USA Today High School Sports wants to know.
The site is trying to choose the best high school sports mascot in the country.
In Alaska, the mascots are the Aniak Halfbreeds, the Chefornak Shaman, the Little Diomede Dateliners, the Nome Beltz Nanooks and the Point Hope Harpooners.
USA Today staff chose 255 of the nation's most unique mascots.
Voting on the state round runs until March 5th, the 51 winners will advance to the second round, where they will be divided among 6 regions.
Those six winners will then compete for the chance to be named the best high school sports mascot in America.
The winner receives $2,000 for its athletic department. To vote, click here for the contest.
