A Dollar General employee that followed a man who he believed was a shoplifting suspect was stabbed Sunday afternoon in Roanoke.
The incident happened shortly after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Gainsboro Road and Gilmer Avenue.
The man told police that he works at the Dollar General on Garden City Boulevard, and saw who he believed to be a shoplifting suspect on 9th Street. Instead of calling 911, the victim followed the man on his bicycle.
At the intersection of Gainsboro Road and Gilmer Avenue, the suspect approached the man and stabbed him multiple times.
The victim was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect has not been arrested.
