ROANOKE COUNTY, Va.—
Tim Worrell, the former chief of the Bent Mountain Fire Department in Roanoke County, died Sunday night.
Worrell was 52. He had been battling throat cancer for the past 4 1/2 years.
Worrell had worked at the department for more than three decades. A benefit motorcycle ride was held for Worrell last month.
The department says it is taking solace in the fact that Worrell is no longer suffering.
Funeral arrangements have not been set.
