( COURTESY PHOTO / February 12, 2013 ) Girl Scout Brownies from Troop 3569 at Petoskey's Sheridan Elementary gather with U.S. Army Spc. Daniel Glezman (back) during his recent visit to the school. As part of the "Operation Downtime" initiative, local nonprofit organization Angel Ambassadors sought items from the community to be sent to military battalions stationed in Afghanistan, with the goal of providing troops with some enjoyment during their down time. Contributions from the Brownie troop, Gaylord High School, Harbor Springs IGA, Dunham's Sports and private donors allowed Angel Ambassadors to send two large packages of food and recreational equipment to military members. Glezman, of Petoskey, recently surprised the Brownies at school to express his appreciation. Spc. Brandon Kargol of Petoskey, another recipient of the contributions, sent a letter and picture to the girls. |
