( Michael Kiser, Good Beer Hunting / January 10, 2013 ) Beer Craft beer options continue to explode with the arrival of Dryhop (3155 N. Broadway), a Lakeview brewpub that hopes to open this spring. Brewer Brant Dubovick plans to offer seven beers on tap -- two seasonals, four flagship beers and one rotating collaboration with another brewery -- alongside locally sourced, beer-friendly small plates. Given Dubovick's penchant for hops, expect some serious IPAs. Beverly also will welcome a new neighborhood brewpub when Horse Thief Brewing (10426 S. Western Ave.) begins pouring in early February. Chef and owner Neil Byers plans a menu of burgers, barbecue and local meats and cheeses to compliment the five house-made beers, which stick to classic styles such as kolsch, stout and pale ale. Two new breweries, Off Color (3925 W. Dickens Ave.), on the border of Logan Square and Hermosa, and Ravenswood's Begyle (1800 W. Cuyler Ave.), also will bring their brews to the masses this spring when their retail spaces open adjacent to the breweries. |
