South Bend Tribune/JAMES BROSHER George Murat, director of the Military Honor Park, wipes dirt off of the wing of a Talos Missile after they were mounted on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, at the South Bend Regional Airport. Assembled at the Bendix Corporation in South Bend, the weapons were surface to air missiles with a payload capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. After the missiles were decommissioned, Murat restored them by sandblasting, repainting and re-assembling them.
