Here's an audition notice for singers from The Orlando Gay Chorus:
The Orlando Gay Chorus (OGC) will hold auditions for its spring concert, "We're Ready for Our Close-Up: A Tribute to the Music of the Movies," on Jan. 5-6 at the John & Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center in Orlando.
Auditions will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 5 and noon to 5 p.m. Jan. 6. The Shakespeare Center is located in Loch Haven Park at 812 E. Rollins St. Persons interested in auditioning do not need to prepare a piece of music. The brief, private audition with Artistic Director and Conductor Jim Brown consists of pitch matching, scale singing and singing a simple, familiar melody.
OGC consists of men and women; singing and non-singing members; and gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and straight individuals. The chorus performs SATB (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass). OGC welcomes persons interested in singing as well as those who prefer to be a part of the Support Section.
Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings at the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra/Shakespeare Center.
