The Ottawa Senators agreed to a two-year, $6 million contract with free agent center David Legwand on Friday.

Legwand will make $2.5 million this season and $3.5 million in 2015-16.

Legwand, 33, spent 15 seasons with the Nashville Predators after he was the franchise's first-ever draft pick in 1998. He was traded to the Detroit Red Wings at the deadline last season.

Legwand had 14 goals and 51 points overall last season between the two teams. He holds several Predators franchise records, including 656 games played, 210 goals and 566 points.

The Senators landed Legwand just three days after dealing center Jason Spezza to the Dallas Stars.
