RAPID CITY - Webster climbed to the top of the leader board after the first day of the State B boys' golf tournament.
The Bearcats carded a 252 on Monday at Hart Ranch Golf Course. White River is second with a 259, while Garretson is eight strokes off the lead. Defending state champion Cal Wiese of Howard fired a 76 after the first day and leads Arron Lickteig of Freeman by two strokes. Spencer Lux of Webster is three strokes off the lead.
Aberdeen Christian's Matt Rohrbach is tied for 23rd place with an 87. He is tied with Willie Colson of Sully Buttes.
South Central leads the girls' team standings after day one with a 268, while Clark-Willow Lake is second with a 279. Deuel shot a 280 and is in third place. Sully Buttes is in fifth place with a 288.
South Central's Kristen Shanahan is in first place with an 81. Tara Nihart of James Valley Christian is one back of Shanahan, while Chynna Stevens of Clark-Willow Lake is two back. Jordyn Jones of Sully Buttes is tied for seventh place, while Shauni Schwartz of Herreid is in ninth place.
Today is the second and final day of the tournament.
