WINONA, Minn. -- The Winona State men’s basketball team dominated visiting Northern State Friday night.

The No. 17 Warriors won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference game 75-59. Winona has won 13 games in a row.

“We did not show up ready to play, and that was really frustrating,” NSU coach Paul Sather said.

Winona was in control for most of the game. However, NSU freshman Mack Arvidson hit a three-pointer early in the second half to leave NSU trailing 46-41.

After that, Sather said, “the floodgates opened” as Winona got a three-pointer followed by one of its 10 blocks that resulted in a dunk. Sather also credited Winona.

“They are a good team, and they played pretty well,” he said. “But we still had opportunities, but we sure weren’t up for making the most of them tonight.

Grant Johnson led the Warriors with 26 points while teammate Clayton Vette collected 21 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

The Wolves remain on the road in NSIC play at 8 tonight, playing at Upper Iowa in Fayette.
