After more than 55 minutes of scoreless hockey, Jordan Morrison and Tyler Mosienko scored third period goals less than three minutes apart to lift the Aces to a 2-0 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones in game three of the Kelly Cup Finals on Monday night at Sullivan Arena. Alaska leads the series, two games to one.
Gerald Coleman made 30 saves to collect the shutout. Until Morrison's game winning goal with 4:08 remaining, he was almost matched shot for shot by Rob Madore. The Cincinnati starting goaltender made 32 saves of his own in defeat. Morrison's game wining strike was his second of the series, while Mosienko buried his first of the postseason. Brendan Connolly assisted on both goals.
With Alaska two victories away from a third Kelly Cup, games 4, 5, and 6 if necessary are in Cincinnati. If game 7 if needed, that would be back in Anchorage Wednesday, June 11th.
