ANCHORAGE, Alaska -

The Stanley Cup and other various hockey trophies and artifacts are spending time in Anchorage as part of Hockey Heritage weekend.   With the cup present at Sullivan Arena on Friday night, the Aces made sure they put on a good show.

Peter Sivak picked up a goal and three assists and Alaska's top line of Sivak, Brendan Connolly, and Nick Mazzolini combined for 10 points as the Aces defeated the Stockton Thunder, 4-2 to begin a five game series.  Alaska improves to 28-11-3 overall.

Alaska trailed 1-0 after Stockton scored 7:16 into regulation.  23 Seconds later, however, Mazzolini found Connolly for his first of two goals on the night to tie things up.  The Aces never looked back, as Mazzolini and Sivak also struck.  Sivak's coming with an empty net with 11 seconds to go in regulation.

Alaska outshot Stockton 37-22.  Saturday's game at Sullivan Arena will also feature the retirement of Wes Goldie's number 16 jersey.
