Alaska Pacific University cross country coach Erik Flora has been named the U.S. Olympic Committee's 2013 National Coach of the Year. Through his association with APU Flora coached Olympians Kikkan Randall, Holly Brooks, Sadie Bjornsen, and Erik Bjornsen.
During the 2013 World Cup season Randall was the sprint world champion. While APU skiers also played a pivotal role for the U.S. Women's team earning the groups first relay podium in World Cup history with a bronze medal.
Flora has turned the APU program into a destination for some of the nations best skiers and now has been recognized for his efforts.
