Entering week two of the high school football season, the South Wolverines felt slighted by being unranked in the Alaska Sports Broadcasting network large schools poll. Perhaps Friday's 41-0 drubbing of third-ranked East will get the attention of the voters. South led 14-0 after one quarter, 20-0 at halftime, and controlled the T-birds from start to finish. South improves to 2 and 0, while East drops to 1 and 1.
Elsewhere in the Cook Inlet Conference, Dimond scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to knock off Chugiak, 14-7. The Lynx grab their first win while the Mustangs fall to 0 and 2.
In the first game on their new turf field, the Colony Knights defeated Kenai to reach 2 and 0, 44-20. Also unbeaten through two games are the Knights' Mat-Su Valley rivals, 2nd ranked Palmer. The Moose rolled over Lathrop, 50-16.
In sub-large schools action, Nikiski bounced back from an opening week loss to beat Skyview, 34-7. Top ranked Eielson shut out Seward, 69-0.
