PREP BASEBALL

Andrew Yacyk keyed a six-run fifth inning with a three-run homer to lead North Hagerstown to a 10-2 win over Linganore on Friday.

Yacyk had three hits and scored three runs, while Phil Pietro had three hits, including a double and triple, and drove in two runs. Zane Schreiber added two RBIs for the Hubs (2-0).

Aaron Jones struck out six and picked up the win in relief for North.

Goretti 16, Grace Academy 1

Kevin Proctor had three hits and four RBIs to lead St. Maria Goretti past Grace Academy.

Jake Moats had three hits, Andrew Bowling had two hits and Tim Davidson hurled a two-hitter and also had two hits for the Gaels (3-3), who finished with 14 hits.

James Buchanan 8, Boonsboro 7

MERCERSBURG, Pa. — Ryan Ruiz had three hits and an RBI for Boonsboro in a loss to James Buchanan.

Justin Lewis had a double, a triple and two RBIs for the Warriors (1-1).

Boonsboro led 7-0 in the top of the fifth before giving up four runs each in the fifth and seventh in the loss.
