New Zealand musher Bob Storey scratched in Rainy Pass at 9 a.m. Wednesday, citing his team’s ability to continue up the trail.

The 65-year-old rookie had 16 dogs on his team when he scratched.

At 11 a.m. veteran musher Gerry Willomitzer scratched in McGrath after assessing his dogs overnight.
