CHULA VISTA — The Imperial High boys’ basketball squad proved too much for Bonita Vista High of Chula Vista, defeating them, 68-25, on Saturday.
Leading the charge for the Tigers was Dejon Wilson, who totaled 12 points, six rebounds and five steals. Right behind him was Dexter Bell, with 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Chris Carter had 11 points, five rebounds and two steals, and Royce Freeman had ten points, six rebounds and four steals.
Imperial (8-7) begins IVL against Palo Verde Valley High at 7 p.m. today in Blythe.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Barons best Wildcats, 39-38
BRAWLEY — The Brawley Union High girls’ basketball team fell just short to Bonita Vista High of Chula Vista, 39-38, on Saturday.
The top scorer for the Wildcats was senior forward Cassie Verduzco, with 10 points.
Vikings undo Wildcats, 32-27
SALTON CITY — The Holtville High girls’ basketball team prevailed over West Shores High of Salton City, 32-27, in a nonleague game on Monday.
Mallory Merten accrued seven points, 10 rebounds and four steals in the win, followed closely by Evelyn Velasco, who had seven points, six rebounds and four steals.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Tigers defeat Spartans, 32-28
IMPERIAL — The Calexico High junior varsity girls’ basketball team overcame Central Union High, 32-28, in the championship game of Imperial High’s tournament on Saturday.
Alina Moreno scored nine points, followed by Liz Vizcarra and Alexa Lopez, who each had eight points. Daisy Acosta contributed with five.
In the semifinal game, they beat host Imperial High, 29-24, in which Moreno scored 10 points, Acosta, nine, and Vizcarra, seven.
