The Alaska Aces had their run of eight straight wins in home openers broken by the Utah Grizzlies on Friday, 5-2 as Alaska fell to 1 and 2 on the young season.  Brandon Dubinsky and William Wrenn notched goals for the Aces.

The Grizzlies scored the game's first four goals and received a goal and two assists from Mitch Wahl in the victory.  James Reid took the loss in net for the Aces, stopping 17 of 22 shots. 

Alaska outshot Utah 24-9 in the first and third periods but most of the damage done by the Grizzlies came during the second, when they held a 13-11 edge in shots on goal and sported a 3-0 edge on the scoreboard.
