The Alaska Aces scored all of their goals on special teams to win a season opener against the Colorado Eagles, 6-3. The Aces tallied five times on the power play, while Nick Mazzolini buried the game winner at 7:31 of the third period while skating shorthanded as the Aces exploded for four third period goals.
Joey Crabb, one of three NHL players in the Aces lineup, was credited with a pair of late goals and finished the night with three points. Tommy Mele, who struck in both of Alaska's exhibition games earlier this week, also had a big night with a goal and two helpers.
Garry Nunn and William Wrenn also scored for the Aces, while James Reid picked up the win in net with 20 saves.
