UAA hockey great Doug Spooner and former Seawolf men's basketball coach Charlie Bruns will be inducted into the 12th class of the Seawolf Hall of Fame, the university announced on Friday.
Spooner played an integral role in the hockey program's glory years between 1987 and 1991. His 75 career goals rank second on the school's all-time list, and his 148 career points rank in the top 10. He helped UAA to its first two NCAA tournament appearances in 1990 and 1991.
Bruns coached on the men's basketball staff for nearly a quarter of a century and 700 games, including 11 seasons as head coach. Under Bruns, UAA had a winning percentage of .614, made four trips to the NCAA Division II tournament, and collected several Great Alaska Shootout wins over the likes of Wake Forest, Notre Dame, and Rhode Island. He also produced five Pac West Conference players of the year.
Spooner and Bruns will be enshrined in the Seawolf Hall of Fame on Sunday, October 14th.
