Kikkan Randall of Anchorage won her third cross country ski race on the World Cup circuit this season, dominating the freestyle sprint in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia. The venue is just outside of where the 2014 Winter Olympics will be held, in Sochi.
Randall went wire to wire in her victory, capturing all three heats as five American women cracked the top 17.
"I'm super happy that my ability to be strong over many courses works out well on this course as well," said Randall in a press release. "I made it through four strong rounds today and tried some different strategies out there. It's really good leading into next year."
The win increases Randall's lead in the World Cup sprint standings. She is third overall.
