Micah Chelimo claimed his first national title, winning the NCAA Division II men's 5,000 meters in Pueblo, Colorado Saturday.
Chelimo collected a program best 18 points for UAA with his performance, top finisher in the 5,000m and second in the 3,000m on Friday.
This is the second Seawolf male to ever claim a national title.
Chelimo, the West Region Male Track Athlete of the Year, jumped ahead in the final 400 meters of the race, never to look back. He finished at 15 minutes, 15.85 seconds, follwed by Western State's Tyler Pennel at 15:16.56.
