ANCHORAGE, Alaska—
The 39th Annual Mayor's Marathon had two new champions in the men's and women's race Saturday morning. Matthew Adams of Anchorage claimed the men's title with a time of 2:27.06 and Kate Hails of Somerville, MA for the women in 2:59.55.
Following Adams finish was Solomon Kandie at 2:32.11, and last year's champion David Kiplagat in 3rd at 2:45.46.
Coming in 2nd for the women was Anchorage's Emma Bohman at 3:03.29, and Jeanne-Clarie White at 3:04.45.
Both Adams and Hails trailed at the start before making their moves in the second half of the race.
The race had over 4000 runners this year, and in addition to the 26.2 mile marathon, the event also held a half-marathon (13.1 miles), a 5-mile, a 1.6-mile and the marathon relay.
