The Peninsula Oilers suffered defeat for the first time in the National Baseball Congress World Series in a 6-4 loss to the Santa Barbara Foresters late Tuesday night in Wichita, Kansas.  The loss sends the Oilers to the losers bracket.

Eight teams are left standing in the double elimination tournament, but the road will now get tougher for the Oilers, who must win out to capture their fourth NBC World Series championship.

Entering the game against Santa Barbara, Kenai had outscored its three previous World Series opponents 30 to 5. Against the Foresters, the Oilers trailed 4-1 early before rallying for three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Mike Miller hit a two-run double and Chris Mallory added an RBI groundout to cap the rally.

However, Santa Barbara broke the tie with single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to grab the win.

The Oilers will face elimination on Thursday against an opponent to be determined.
