For the second-straight night the Pilots earned a one-run victory that was decided in the ninth inning of the game as they topped the AIA Fire 5-4. Matt Vinson scored on a wild pitch in the top of the final frame to give the Pilots the one-run lead that would eventually double as the difference maker.
The Blue caps got good production out of their power hitters in this game; Cael Brockmeyer did his best Babe Ruth impersonation in the top of the third, hitting a two-run bomb to put the Anchorage team up 2-0. Then in the top of the seventh with the game tied, Brady Hohl would go big fly for a two-run homer of his own.
Chris Belleque pitched eight of the nine innings and carded the win for the Pilots while Ismael Camacho held off any chance of a Fire comeback in the fourth to earn the save.
The Pilots improve their record to 7-14 while the Fire are 7-10.
