Annette Gutierrez of Fairbanks went fishing for the first time in her life on Saturday. She may want to stop there after hauling in a 335.7-pound halibut, good enough to lead the Valdez Halibut Derby through six weeks of competition.

After fishing for about one hour, Gutierrez caught her fish aboard The Relentless. The huge halibut is 142.3 pounds heavier than this year's second-place fish.

The derby concludes on Labor Day, Sept. 4, with the winner set to claim $15,000.
