Two of the most decorated racers in the history of the Iron Dog snowmachine race are switching brands for the 2013 event. Seven-time champion Scott Davis and his partner, four-time winner Todd Palin, will ride Ski-Doo sleds, breaking a long-time relationship with manufacturer Arctic Cat.
In 2012, the tandem of Davis and Palin finished fifth in the 2,000 mile race while on Arctic Cat snowmachines. Five of Davis' seven championships have come with Arctic Cat while Palin has won three times on Arctic Cat.
Ski-Doo did produce a championship for the second time in its history in 2012 when Dusty VanMeter and Marc McKenna took the crown.
Said Davis in a press release, “We want every advantage we can get, and BRP's Ski-Doo sleds have the best combination of speed, durability and handling that can win this race.”
Palin added "The Rotax E-TEC engines proved last year that they bring a clear fuel mileage advantage while delivering the power you need to run at the front.”
The 2013 Iron Dog begins February 17th in Big Lake.
