The UAA Men's Basketball team will be playing games next year and now they have a schedule to prove it. The athletic department for the green and gold releasing the teams list of challengers Wednesday.
A few games stick out, November 5th the Seawolves will play an exhibition in Alabama, at division one Troy. The teams first official game of the year will be held November 9th, UAA opening with Colorado Christian in the first round of the AT&T Jamboree.
The Great Alaska Shootout has been in the news a lot recently for a plan to give Alaskans around the state free airfare to the shootout with the purchase of a general admission ticket package. The reason the school is doing this is to try and get more fans to the game. If the arena is appreciably more packed then those eyes will get to yell and scream at Belmont, UAA's opening round opponent. UC Riverside, Northeastern, Oral Roberts, Charlotte, Texas State, and Loyola Marymount will also be in attendance.
Conference play begins November 29th with a home game against Montana State Billings. The Seawolves will travel to defending National Champion Western Washington on January 24th. The Great Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament begins March 7th.
UAA finished it's 2011-2012 campaign 23-7 with a trip to the NCAA Division II West Regional. The group returns three of their five starters from last year.
