The South Wolverines scored three runs in the sixth inning to pull away from the Fairbanks 49ers in a 6-3 victory in the winner's bracket finals of the American Legion State Tournament. The win ensures the Wolverines two chances to win the double elimination tournament in Friday's finals.
Bryan Baker went 3 for 4 for South, and drove in two runs in that three-run rally. Pat Enslow added two hits.
The loss by Fairbanks sends the 49ers to the loser's bracket where they will face Dimond, the only other team left standing.
The Lynx received three hits and three RBI's from number eight hitter Austin Brown in their 9-1 victory over the Alaska Road Warriors. Vince Partusch clubbed a three-run triple in Dimond's five-run third inning.
