Arleigh Reynolds of Salcha stated on Saturday that if he were to win his first Fur Rendezvous Open World Championship sled dog race, it would be the biggest professional accomplishment of his life.  On Sunday, he delivered, capturing the title in the three day cumulative race through the streets and trails of Anchorage.

Reynolds, who enjoyed the fastest time in both Friday's and Saturday's runs of 24.8 miles each, held on to beat five-time champion Egil Ellis by 2 minutes, 47 seconds over the three days.  Ellis posted the best time on Sunday with a mark of 1 hour, 18 minutes, 36 seconds. 

2012 champion Ken Chezik placed third.
