Third period goals by Daniel Naslund and Scott Allen gave the UAA Seawolves a 3-2 lead over the top-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers on Friday, but it ultimately wasn't enough as the Gophers scored two goals on the same five-minute power play in the final 3:11 of regulation to heist one from the Seawolves, 4-3.
UAA's losing streak extends to seven straight. The Seawolves are 1-11-3 in conference play overall. Minnesota improves to 7-3-3 in the WCHA.
After Allen gave UAA a 3-2 lead on his eighth goal of the season with 5:47 remaining, UAA's Tyler Currier was whistled for a five-minute major penalty for checking from behind with 4:08 left. The penalty proved costly as goals by Nick Bjugstad and Ben Marshall gave Minnesota the victory. Marshall's winning tally came with 50 seconds to go.
Quinn Sproule struck for his second goal of the season for UAA, while Rob Gunderson played well in net and made 26 shots. Three of Minnesota's four goals came on the power play.
