The Dimond Lynx jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning and never looked back, throttling Juneau for the second time in four days, 11-1 in an elimination game Wednesday at the state American Legion baseball tournament. Dimond advances to face South in Thursday's final.
Against the Midnight Suns, the Lynx managed their 11 runs on just seven base hits. Jordan Clevenger and Kyle Bremont each contributed two-run singles in the victory while Tony Hillman ended the game in the sixth with another run scoring hit. The game was halted via mercy rule.
In the finals, Dimond will have to defeat South twice to become champions. The Wolverines earned that right by advancing through the double elimination tournament without a loss. They took down Dimond, 14-1 in an earlier matchup.
