In his third start with the team, goalie Zoltan Hetenyi came up with a shutout to lead the Orlando Solar Bears to a 1-0 victory over the visiting Reading Royals on Thursday night in front of a crowd of 6,840 at the Amway Center.
Hetenyi came up with 29 saves in the effort, posting his third shutout of the season and first with the Solar Bears (26-27-2-3, 57 points).
He has allowed three goals in his three starts with the team.
The Solar Bears are 10-2-0-1 at home against nondivisional teams and are 18-8-1-3 at home this season.
C.J. Severyn scored the only goal of the game at the 8:56 mark in the opening period.
Rob Mignardi and Corbin Baldwin were each credited with an assist.
Severyn now has 19 goals on the season, trailing only Ryan Cruthers' 20 for the team lead.
Goalie Riley Gill had 29 saves for the Royals (36-17-3-3, 78 points).
The teams were a combined 0-for-9 on power-play opportunities, with Orlando missing out on six chances. Orlando outshot Reading 30-29.
The Solar Bears close an eight-game homestand Saturday, hosting the Royals at 7p.m.
The BE GREAT! Classic for Kids, benefiting the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida, will start at 4p.m. Saturday and will feature NHL Hall of Famer Bryan Trottier.
