Vincent Aumavae rushed for 241 yards, including the game-winning 19 yard touchdown on 4th and 1 with 1:04 to play to lift Palmer to an exciting Potato Bowl win over Wasilla, 26-20.
The game was tied twice in the fourth quarter before Aumavae's game-winning score.
The victory gives Palmer a mark of 6 and 2 to wrap up the regular season, including a 3 and 1 mark in the Railbelt Conference, good enough to secure a spot in next week's large schools state quarterfinals.
Wasilla finishes Railbelt Conference play 1 and 3, and will miss the postseason.
The possibility of a three-way tie for second place in the conference still exists. If West Valley defeats Colony on Saturday, the Knights, Wolfpack, and Lathrop Malemutes would all finish league play 2 and 2.
The tiebreaker is point differential amongst the tied teams. If Colony beats West Valley, the Knights will be Railbelt Conference champions by virtue of their 3 and 1 mark and tiebreaker advantage over Palmer.
In the medium schools division, Houston is playoff-bound for the first time in five years after defeating Homer, 18-6.
