The Las Vegas Wranglers denied the Alaska Aces of a pre-season series sweep, with a 4-2 victory Tuesday evening at the Sullivan Arena.
The Wranglers took control in the first period when Mickey Lang netted one at 8:05 in the period, with the assist credited to UAF alum Carlo Finucci.
Alaska's Nate Thompson came in with the equalizer in the second. A couple more goals from Vegas' Chris Francis and Aces' Tommy Mele would end the period tied at 2's.
Hope for an Alaska sweep was crushed in the third period when Las Vegas' Andrew Sarauer scored less than 2 minutes into the period, followed by another Wrangler goal from Eric Springer before the Aces could answer. Despite going shot for shot in the beginning of the game, the Wranglers outshot the Aces 30-18.
The Aces open up the regular season this weekend in Colorado, Friday October 12th.
