ANCHORAGE, Alaska -

Two Rivers musher Allen Moore claimed his fifth career title in the Copper Basin 300 sled dog race on Monday afternoon, holding off Nicolas Petit by seven minutes.  It's the second time in Moore's racing career that he has won the Copper Basin 300 in back to back years.

Moore, the reigning Yukon Quest winner, previously won this particular race in 2005, '07, '08, and 2013.

The champion came across the finish line in Glennallen after 32 hours, 41 minutes.  Petit, who came in sixth in last year's Iditarod, checked in after 32 hours, 48 minutes.

Gerry Willomitzer, Ben Harper, and Travis Beals completed the top five in a race that snakes counter-clockwise from Glennallen to Paxson and back.  43 mushers entered the race.
