Arleigh Reynolds won the Fur Rendezvous Open World Championship Sunday for the second straight year. The back-to-back champion finished with a time of 4 hours, 36 minutes, and 13 seconds over the three days.
Reynolds announced that this race was his final one. He said he would have retired last year had his lead dog Guts not pushed him for one more.
Kevin Cook followed Reynolds in second place with a time of 4:38:47. The second place finish matches Cook's high (also placing second in 2012).
Egil Ellis finished in third with an overall time of 4:39:28 and owned the fastest time on day three. Jason Dunlap finished in fourth with a time of 4:41:57. Ken Chezik picked up fifth place after edging out Greg Taylor in the final day of the race. Chezik finished with an overall time of 4:52:32.
The sled dog teams raced 25 miles each of the three days through the trails and streets of Anchorage.
