There was a little bit of volleyball history made in the 2013 ASAA tournament, as for the first time, the same two schools met for the fourth consecutive year in the finals of both the 3A and 4A tournaments.  Prior to this year, it hasn't happened in either classification.

Both teams who lost the 2012 title matches earned sweet redemption.

In the 4A final, South defeated Dimond 20-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-22 to capture the school's fifth state championship in their 10 seasons.  The Wolverines, who also downed the Lynx in Friday's winners bracket final, were the only team to beat Dimond in a best of five match all season, and they did so in each of their final two meetings.

Holly Moorehouse led a balanced South attack with decisive kills to end both the third and fourth games.  South and Dimond have combined to win every state title since 2005 and have split their last four finals matchups.

In the 3A title match, Grace Christian swept 2011 and 2012 champion Mount Edgecumbe 27-25, 25-14, 25-21.  The Grizzlies overcame a deficit in the first game and never looked back, behind 28 kills from senior Heather Green.
