ANCHORAGE -

After entering as the number eight seed, the South Wolverines have won three straight to advance to the title game of the state American Legion baseball tournament.  The Wolverines hammered the Dimond Lynx, 14-1 in Tuesday's meeting of tournament unbeaten teams, scoring 10 times in the fifth inning alone.

South has made quick work of its three state tournament opponents, downing Wasilla, Kenai, and Dimond to advance to Thursday's finals.  In that round, the Wolverines will have two chances to claim their third American Legion crown in program history.

The Lynx are still alive in the double elimination tournament, and will face Juneau in Wednesday's elimination contest for the right to meet South on Thursday.  The Midnight Suns defeated Chugiak, 14-9 in Tuesday's knockout game.  Michael Dale and Robert Markovich each drove in three runs, and Juneau scored six times in the second inning to set up an early lead.
