Priest in 3-D

In the ravaged, post-apocalyptic remnants of a long war between humans and vampires, a warrior priest (Paul Bettany) disobeys his superiors to try to rescue his niece after she's abducted by bloodsuckers. Cam Gigandet and Maggie Q help him on his dangerous quest. Directed by Scott Charles Stewart, who also brought us "Legion," so don't expect much. (PG-13, 85 minutes)

Bridesmaids

The early word is strong on this comedy produced by Judd Apatow ("Knocked Up") about the antics of six bridesmaids (including Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne and Melissa McCarthy) as they try to plan the perfect wedding for their friend (Maya Rudolph). (R, 125 minutes)

Thor

The Norse gods are off to a decent, though not divine, start in this latest movie in Marvel Comics' big-screen expansion of its superhero pantheon. Australian actor Chris Hemsworth plays the god of thunder, cast out by his father (Anthony Hopkins) and forced to learn some humility down on Earth. (PG-13, 113 minutes)

Jumping

the Broom

This pleasant but insubstantial comedy - produced by Dallas-based preacher T.D. Jakes, who also has a small part in the film - is a culture clash comedy about two African-American families squaring off during a weekend-long wedding on Martha's Vineyard. (PG-13, 108 minutes)

Something

Borrowed

Deeply dimpled Ginnifer Goodwin is a wallflower lawyer, Kate Hudson is her domineering alpha-blonde best friend, and Colin Egglesfield is apparently the only available man in New York City. He and Goodwin were study partners in law school, and on their way to being something more when her smooth, confident pal swooped in and snatched him like a hawk seizing a rabbit. But after a night of too much drinking and partying, the lonely hearts attorney finally gets lucky with the guy. Oops. (PG-13, 113 minutes)

Fast Five

(PG-13, 130 minutes)
