Dakota Classic Cutting Futurity champions named
The 2012 Dakota Classic Cutting Futurity was held at the Yellow Rose Arena in Platte on October 5-7. The total purse paid out for the Dakota Classic Futurity was $25,416.14. There were 46 entries in the aged event classes, plus a full slate of NCHA classes were held on the weekend. Co-Champions in the 3 year old open Futurity were both owned by North Ridge Ranch Inc. of Pierre, SD. The North Ridge Ranch, Inc. is owned by Jerry & Carol Ward. NRR Demolition Cat sired by the North Ridge Ranch sire Black Catamounts Rey won a total of $3,594.50 and shared Championship honors with NRR Peekaboo Rey sired by another North Ridge Ranch sire Playboy Peppy Elvis and took home winnings of $3,195.12. Both horses were shown by North Ridge Ranch, Inc. resident trainer Tracy Barton, and each horse marked scores of 145 to cinch their wins. 3rd place in the Open class was won by Garden Valley Marian sired by Poppin Peponita, shown by Seth Kirchner of Clarinda, Iowa and owned by Eldridge Goines of Lindale, Texas. This horse won $2,529.50. The 3 year old Non Pro Futurity was won by Troy Hayden of Rapid City, S.D., riding the horse Print A Blue Whitch sired by Peptos Blueprint. Troy went home with winnings of $2,973.65. Reserve Champion of the 3 year old non pro class was won by Jason Reed of Faith, S.D., riding NRR Jack The Cat sired by Black Catamounts Rey. Jason was also the 3 year old Amateur Champion and had the total winnings of $ 2,375.45. In 3rd place
