Candidates were asked: What do you view as the major issue of this campaign and how will you address it?
COMMISSIONER
Term: 4 years
Vote for not more than two
Democrat
CHARLES GETZ
Kidder Township
D.O.B.: 10/29/37
Education: 1956 graduate of Jim Thorpe High School
Occupation: County Commissioner
Qualifications: Commissioner Charles Getz is completing his second four-year term of office as a county commissioner and is seeking re-election to the position. From 1996-99 he served as chairman of the board as well as head of the Salary Board and Retirement Board. Prior to being elected commissioner, Getz was a supervisor in Kidder Township for 18 years, during which time he served as chairman from 1987-92. He is the owner of Getz Transportation, Albrightsville.
Response: Carbon County must control spending, in the last four years under the Republican majority, the county expenses have gone up 28% compared to 12% under the Democrats, the previous four years. We do not need any new buildings built, when we can put our people into the building we now lease out to the state. This will save the county from building a new building. I also want to discuss our economic development plan.
