Amazon is overflowing with goodies these days. In addition to the new content deals that Amazon Instant Video users are sure to love, they have announced the launch of their all-new Kindle Fire HD tablets and fifth generation Kindle e-readers.

Among the new streaming deals Amazon Instant Video users will benefit from include one announced in late August. Amazon struck a new deal with NBCUniversal Cable and New Media Distribution. That deal adds “hundreds of popular and award-winning TV episodes to Prime Instant Video, including prior seasons of Parks and Recreation, Parenthood, Friday Night Lights, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica and more,” according to an Amazon press release. Recently, Amazon signed a three-year deal with Epix to add nearly 3,000 movies to its service. This deal will enable Amazon Instant Video users to see movies such as The Hunger Games and superhero movies including The Avengers and Iron Man 2. Last week, Amazon announced the launch of their new line-up of Kindle Fire HD tablets. There are three new tablets in the line-up: Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch 4G, Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch and Kindle Fire HD. 

According to Amazon, the Kindle Fire HD is a 7-inch HD tablet with Dolby audio, dual stereo speakers, WiFi and 16GB or 32GB of storage. This model is priced at $199 and $249, respectively. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch features an 8.9-inch display, Dolby audio, dual stereo speakers and WiFi for only $299 for the 16GB model or $369 for the 32GB model. One unique feature that comes exclusively on the new Kindle Fire HD tablets is X-Ray for Movies. This feature enables Kindle Fire HD users to retrieve information from IMDb on the tablets. In addition to the new tablets, Amazon has announced two new e-readers, the Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite 3G. The Kindle Paperwhite e-readers feature 8-week battery life and built-in WiFi. The WiFi-only model is $119, while the 3G model is $179.

Microsoft security updates

Microsoft has released two security bulletins to fix flaws in its software for its September security updates. Both bulletins were rated important. The flaws could enable elevation of privilege.

Among programs affected by the flaws include Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010 SP1; Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 SP3; and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2.
