Lyndale "Vorees" Akin, 91, of Danville, died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, in Knoxville, Tenn.
Born March 26, 1920, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Ben G. and Mary Lynda Dalton Cormney.
She is the widow of Clarence Akin.
Vorees was a member of Danville First Church of God. She babysat for many years and had a great love of children.
She is survived by her daughters, Lyndall Claris (Harold) Cheatham of Knoxville, Tenn., and Carolyn Wayne (Kenneth) Crouch of Billings, Montana; a son, Robert K. Akin of Danville; two brothers, James W. Cormney and Tulley Cormney; three grandchildren, Joy Sexton, Christine Hillard and Bethany Crouch; and a great-grandson, Devon Scales-Sexton.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Kilbern Cormney and Huston F. Cormney.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Cox and the Rev. Ken Crouch will officiate. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be George Akin, Ben Cormney, Larry Cormney, Allen Cormney, Tim Cormney and Devon Scales-Sexton.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
