Lancaster Baptist Church is starting a Christian-based running program and challenge for beginning runners Saturday.
The Run for God 5K Challenge is a practical guide to running and a 12-week training plan aimed at running a 5-kilometer race while maintaining a Christian focus. The first session will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church, located at 201 Richmond St. in Lancaster.
The study is for everyone, is not limited to church members and is designed for those who have never run. It follows a program established by Mitchell Hollis, a Georgia runner who details it at his website, www.runforgod.com.
