Wilderness Trace Community Foundation provided $130,250 through 105 grants in fiscal year 2011 (July 2010-June 2011).

Grants were awarded in the following total amounts: arts, culture and humanities, $1,250; education, $16,450; environment and public benefit, $6,600; health and human services, $7,650; religion, $61,300; and scholarships, $37,000.

The foundation awards grants out of interest earned on principle donated to the foundation, Chairman Pete Chiericozzi explained.

That means initial donations continue to grow and give back more every year, he said.

Total committed assets for the foundation exceed $2.8 million.
