1. INKED! The zombie apocalypse: Must have brains!

Zombies, ladies and gentlemen, love them some brains; creamy, warm, and preferably human.
Zombies, ladies and gentlemen, love them some brains; creamy, warm, and preferably human. It’s the non-thinking man’s sustenance, ripped live from the steaming skull of a writhing, screaming, fighting victim, whose frontal lobe is firing with...

3. A day in the life of a zombie writer

I climb out of the car, step into damp October leaves and stare up at the Logan Square apartment building across the street. A chill rushes up the street. I notice a man standing in the front yard, shuffling back and forth. He does not appear rabid. He appears to be in his mid-30s, with black-frame glasses, maybe a graduate student. He is behind a black fence, and as I take a tentative step in his direction, I realize: He is Scott Kenemore, zombie writer, the most prolific zombie writer in a subgenre I had assumed was dead.

5. Man About Town: Fear and priority passes in zombie land

One of the first things you have to realize about zombies is that they drool blood, which must be hell on the dry cleaning. Never date a zombie, not even over a cup of coffee, unless you're one of those women with a bad boy/blood complex, in which case there's probably no helping you.

9. New terrors and twists as Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights turns 20

It wouldn't have been shocking for Universal Orlando to turn its Halloween Horror Nights event into a "greatest hits" package this year. Like a hungry vampire lurking around a darkened corner, many fans expected a "best of" theme to swoop in and mark a milestone — the theme park's 20th edition.

11. Here's Something Scary: 17 Shopping Days Until Halloween

The Hartford Courant
If Mitt Romney or Barak Obama show up at your door at the end of the month, they'll likely be looking for candy, not votes. In the third annual Halloween Shopping Survey released by thrift retailer Savers Inc., close to 40 percent of respondents said...

13. 'ParaNorman' is another boy with ghost trouble ★★★

Here's the historical designation of the new animated film "ParaNorman": It's the third feature made in the painstaking stop-motion process — consciously unrealistic, herky-jerky and rough-hewn, in the George Pal "Puppetoons" or Tim Burton "Corpse Bride" vein — as well as in stereoscopic 3-D. The first two to do so were the very fine"Coraline" and the noisy, bustling"The Pirates! Band of Misfits."

The zombie apocalypse strikes many with fear, but I'm all for it. I've seen the upside.
The zombie apocalypse strikes many with fear, but I'm all for it. I've seen the upside. Consider the blender. It works hard, blending. Grimy work. After a long day on the countertop, it needs a bath. And yet, should the kitchen human wet a sponge and...

19. Why zombies, robots, clowns freak us out

What do zombies and androids have in common? They're almost human, but not quite. That disconnect is creepy, in a way that scientists are searching to understand.
