Organized thematically around three topics, people, places and things, the exhibit draws from the Amistad Center's permanent collection of art (including Ellis Walter Ruley's "Grapefruit Picking Time," c. 1930s, pictured), artifacts, manuscripts, documents, and other items from the 17th to the early 20th centuries.
